Still looking for details. This is legit, I have quake trackers on my phone. I've been through several. I will post more info. There were also 7.0 + quakes in Venezuela and Vanuatu.

Ok, 200 miles offshore, but also felt in Bandon. Minor damage if any. Also a 6.3 soon after the first. This was around 9:00 PM last night.
Bandon is a coastal town with a good sized fishing community.

Maybe we should just have one big "Earthquake" thread, because it looks like we could run out of room if we make a separate thread for all of them. :P

Here's an article on the Aug. 22 Oregon 6.2.

Early today there was a 7.1 in eastern Peru.

It looks like we really need a dedicated "Ring of Fire" thread. ;)

Hundreds are dead in Indonesia after a 7.5 earthquake and the tsunami that followed. The toll is likely to rise. :(

Something big is going on in many of those idyllic islands in the south Pacific. Fiji, Samoa and a bunch of lesser known atolls have been having contests as to how many 6.0's and above they can have in a day. There's at least 1 volcano with a bad mood, besides.
Also, Indonesia has an epidemic of volcanoes with indigestion.

The toll has reached 1,200. It's bad...and getting worse.

That might actually a sensible idea. More frequent earth quakes are supposedly a side effect of global warming. Per, if I recall, the book "6 Degrees" by Mark Linas.

The next big earthquake that occurs (and we probably won't have to wait very long :( ), I'm going to start a new, general "Earthquake" thread. It would be nice if all the previous 'quake posts could be relocated there, but Kurenai probably has other stuff to do. :P
