Ran across an article in the Bloodhorse from 06-25-2005 about a race horse named Tissington but his non-racing name is "Fred". he was about to race his 100th race at Emerald Downs. H was owned by Jim Keen. Supposedly, he was a much loved horse at that track and he also raced in Portland. Looks like he raced a total of 102 times. he also had a very unique running style coming from way back.
I cannot find anything about this equine athlete other then this article, http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/ ... reer-start , and and his pedigree at http://www.pedigreequery.com/tissington .
He may still be enjoying a retirement or may have gone onto more heavenly greener pastures. I would really like some more info on this gray gentleman. Anyone know about this horse and his fate? Videos anywhere?
Tissington aka Fred
I'd suggest you go to the Emerald Downs Fan Forum but it seems to be gone for good. I bet if you contacted Joe Withee who does the majority of the media stuff at Emerald he might know or could find out. They have been featuring a different OTTB every week during the Emerald meet this year, online and in the program, so he's done a lot of checking up on similar types. They even had a showcase day a few weeks ago trying to get some placed before the meet ends. I'd ask around for you but I made my last trip of the meeting on Saturday and will be out of town this weekend.
More about OTTB's at Emerald Downs. If you go to the EMD site, go to New To Racing and scroll down to Thoroughbreds: After The Finish Line, you can read about the OTTB's featured during this year's meet.
