Work rider Natasha Galpin died yesterday after the horse she was riding on the gallops collapsed fatally from a ruptured artery at Iain Jardine’s stable.
Natasha also ran her own yard and competed in eventing.
Awful tragedy

Amboseli in the Astra S at SA today. From DRF:
“Amboseli, who was second in the Grade 3 Cardinal Handicap at Churchill Downs on Nov. 22, was pulled up by jockey Kent Desormeaux when the field reached the stretch for the first time. Amboseli sustained a severe injury to a hind leg and could not be saved, stewards said. Amboseli was the 5-2 second choice and was favored until a few minutes before post time.”
She was a 7yo mare by MDO out of Adja by Rock of Gibraltar. May she rest in peace.

Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of the great Evening Attire. Evening has been an amazing presence here at Akindale since the day he arrived, winning the hearts of every person, volunteer and friend that has had the pleasure to meet him. Even those that never met him, admired his style, confidence and heart. Evening had a dignified presence, a kind eye and he loved his visitors and we cannot express our thanks enough to everyone who has come to visit Evening over the years, he truly loved the visits (and the treats) and always knew how to work the crowd to keep them coming back for more, just as he did on the track.
Walking into the barn this morning without our breakfast chat hit me hard. We all have our personal favorites here at the farm, and none of us ever agree with each other, but yet Evening had all of our hearts. He made it very easy to love him, and for that we will miss him dearly.
Evening will spend eternity here with us at Akindale Farm.
Evening’s 21st Birthday Celebration will now be an “Evening to Remember” and plans will be shared soon.

Here's one of the photos I was looking for. The mud pics of the two of them are great too. Lots of people and horses will miss this guy.

Goodbye, EVENING ATTIRE, one of the most popular horses to ever run in NY. He has died at 21. Photo with his 1/2-brother Tacticianor (r).

There are fewer things harder than losing someone that daily gave you nothing but the warm fuzzies every day just by being themselves. He was very loved; I really feel for them at this time.
Aaaaaawwwww, RIP Attire. You are definitely missed and you are (were) definitely loved.
I'll never forget the 2003 Clark and the eventual DQ....had a nice private message exchange with Joe Grant about that race on this very forum. His win as a 10yo in the Stymie is another great memory I have: he was graying out and looked a white ghost coming down the AQ strip that day.
Great horse and great connections... hopefully his spirit will live on.

I remember when his half brother Tacticianor was rescued from Sugar Creek Auction almost ten years ago.

Lovely article, and cause of death.
Farewell To Evening Attire: ‘The Big Horse’ In Kelly Barn Had Quite A Run
Farewell To Evening Attire: ‘The Big Horse’ In Kelly Barn Had Quite A Run
More: https://www.paulickreport.com/horse-car ... ite-a-run/Last weekend was a sad time for all the volunteers and officers at Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue in Pawling, N.Y. Evening Attire, the grand gelding who meant so much to everyone in the New York area, passed. Born on 1998 on Valentine's Day in Kentucky, he was 21 and suffered a bout of deadly colic.

‘The life of kings’: Akindale will miss Evening Attire
‘The life of kings’: Akindale will miss Evening Attire
More: https://thisishorseracing.com/news/inde ... ing-attireChris Andrews never saw Evening Attire race, never knew the fit, determined, hard-trying racehorse. But she knew all about Evening Attire.
“The stall he is . . . was . . . in is the key stall right next to my office and he talked to me every morning and every night,” said Andrews, executive director of Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue where Evening Attire lived out his retirement for the last 10 years. Andrews talked back because, well of course she did. Horses like Evening Attire make you talk to them. On the racetrack, he won nine graded stakes, earned just shy of $3 million and won legions of fans while making 69 starts over nine seasons. He died Sunday of colic, leaving a big hole at Akindale.
“The energy isn’t the same in the entire barn,” said Andrews, who oversees the Pawling, N.Y. farm. “The team is heartbroken. It was so fast, so unexpected.”

Tripwire, a 2016 colt by Flashback and out of Mazucambera collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack in the fourth race at Gulfstream today. Don't know how the jockey is. Rest in peace.

Win With Pride (3-1) runs down Runaway Lute to take AQU 7th. Unfortunately, Tommy T (the 3-5 fave) broke down after a quarter mile, was pulled up by jockey Dylan Davis. Tommy T was euthanized on track. Davis is Ok.
