Not going to directly link the video because it's graphic, but Jose L. Verenzuela posted a video to twitter that Venezuelan champion mare El Comediante and Grade 1 winner Ocean Bay were completely butchered at their farm in an act of vandalism. They were both in-foal. According to a twitter conversation the vandals arrived armed.

Stud farm is "Haras Buena Ventura."

EDIT: Looks like it was actually Jordyn Macoma, the dam of Comediante, and Stellar Babe, the dam of Ocean Bay (who is actually a stallion).
Sickening! Are people in Venezuela starving? Is that why they are butchering horses?
Nevermind. Answered my own questions.

Legendary stayer Double Trigger (Ela-Mana-Mou) passed away from a suspected heart attack in his paddock at Clarendon Farm. He was 28.

Kerry On, an OTTB eventer, died with her rider, Katharine Morel, after a rotational fall. Horrible.

It's sad to lose any of our horses, but he lived to a good, pampered 31 at Lane's End.

Not a thoroughbred, but champion standardbred stallion Safely Kept has passed at 31.

Clovis Crane Thoroughbreds in Pennsylvania lost 15 horses in a barn fire. They saved 7.

Crane bought the white Lucky Pulpit x Pashionforfashion colt (his last foal) so I hope she's one of the 7 or was in another barn.

I agree. War Emblem was one of my favorite Derby winners. What happened? Saw something about a paddock accident?

Found dead. They are suspecting a paddock accident but are awaiting necropsy results

:(
If you are referring to the pretty white $125,000 filly, she refused to leave her box. I'll add a link to the interview as soon as I find it again.

Edited to add link:

Yes after further research it seems that the spotty Lucky Pulpit boy is working at Palm Meadows.

Aw gee. This is a heart breaker, She was paralyzed with fear.

Eck eck eck. I can barely read the word "fire" and not have a visceral reaction since Australia.

I would imagine it's like that for all of us. How can one love horses and not feel like that.
