Zenyatta's famous workmate, he suffered a severe leg injury in his paddock. He was just retired sound.

LAT, do you have a good source on that? I've seen it on Twitter, but not from anyone I personally know to be reliable. Not questioning you -- just need some assurance.
The lady that runs his FB page followed him closely and checked in on him often when he was racing. She has always posted reliable info on him. And Liza G. Fly confirmed it in the comments. I trust the source.

Ment to post this here- but was under the wrong year

I'm seeing reports that St. Nicholas Abbey fought the good fight, but had to be released from his pain this morning. Trying to find a link. R. I. P.

ETA:
From Coolmore:

"Regretfully St Nicholas Abbey has lost his brave battle after suffering a colic
this morning. Surgery revealed a severe strangulating colon torsion that was
unviable and he had to be euthanized on humane grounds. This is extremely
unfortunate as St Nicholas Abbey had been in terrific form, the laminitis was
resolving very well and the fracture had healed better than expected.

Coolmore would like to thank the surgeons, the international experts and all the
staff at Fethard Equine Hospital who gave him such excellent care 24/7. We would
also like to thank the multitude of well-wishers for all the cards and messages
of support for St Nicholas Abbey. He will be buried in the graveyard here at
Coolmore."

F#$%ing Colic!

Very sad day for St. Nicholas Abbey. He was a fighter to the end, it really is a shame. May he RIP.

I guess there wasn't none of that $416k left to fund a retirement.

RIP, good boy...

Disgusting. I know a lot of people were following him on Twitter due to age.

This is a Jerry Hollendorfer owned horse. I thought he was a good guy?

eventer Buck Davidson lost "Santa's Keeper"(aka Simon) due to a rupture in his right quadriceps muscle and right transverse abdominal muscle, which resulted in internal hemorrhaging today. Simon was euthanized at Peterson&Smith Equine Hospital in Florida after consultation with numerous top vets.Autopsy done that day showed that he was developing laminitis on top of the injury and simply wouldn't have been able to overcome it...all of his vets said they've never treated that injury before
