Somewhat "old news" as it happened in May but filly Qafila defeated males in the South Australian Derby (AUS-G1).

Owned by Shadwell, Qafila is by Not A Single Doubt out of the Tapit mare Zighy Bay.

The reach of Tapit continues to extend far and away.

Taylor Swift has backed out of a scheduled show at the upcoming Melbourne Cup, apparently because of pressure from animal rights groups.

Unsurprising. It's quite fashionable for celebrities of her type to kowtow to vegans and animal rights "activists."
