At Hawthorne today. In addition to the loss of a nice horse, he was claimed for $18k and the new owner has no recourse. I don't know how much longer I can do this.

Voiding claims on horses that get injured or die during the race is clearly something that must be in effect throughout the country. Like medical records staying with horses, that would go a long ways towards cleaning up racing and improving its image.
Add to early agenda for a nation-wide racing czar.
RIP Cashel Rock. You were loved.

I've found it easier to tear up tickets at 8/1 instead of 8/5.

@DRFMcGee Per @keenelandracing stewards, Amandine suffered injuries during R8 on the turf course here yesterday that necessitated her euthanization. Extremely unfortunate. Stakes-winning British-bred 4yo filly was G1-placed.

It's All Up to You
Fell in the 3rd yesterday at Lone Star Park. I took this picture in the paddock before the race. Euthanized on the track.
Montt was pulled up and vanned off in the 7th. I saw him load into the ambulance with a front limp, don't know what his fate was.

Seems all the more sorrowful to see pictures of these grand souls filled with energy and life, and only moments left to them. How quickly things can change.Smarty Deb wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2019 1:34 pm

It IS hard to see them so full of life minutes before they're not. There's no mention in the chart of his fall just after the wire, but TVG reported on it at the time.

Is there any indication that a post-mortem workup will be done? Esp considering where she shipped from?
Maybe not since she was working on the training track

Horseracing Nation isn’t a reliable source at times either. They still have Amandine and a few other horses that I looked up, that are confimed deceased, as active still.
West Virginia based sire Officer Rocket died a week ago of a heart attack, although there was never a news release about it. It is mentioned in the article about Aarons Way moving to West Virginia to the farm Officer Rocket was at, Aarons Way is replacing officer rocket
Naturally never really heard of Officer Rocket before now, but he sure was pretty.

How tragic! Refreshing to see such openness about the situation, and my heart goes out to them. I remember Just The Judge from the BC at Santa Anita. RIP darling.Flanders wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:30 pmJust The Judge due to complications from colic.
