There was no missing him coming down the stretch with that stunning gold coloring. So sorry to read of his passing. :(

RIP, Mighty Boss!

I didn't even know that this color combination was possible in thoroughbreds! What a looker!

Blonde is actually not that rare in thoroughbreds. I think it has something to do with the flaxen gene? Anyway, there's several blondes in the unique colors thread.

Wonder how well into his 30s he was.

Regardless he looked really amazing for his age. Hopefully he passes on his longevity to his group of kiddos.

I was not expecting Deep Impact to die. What a horrible, terrible loss to japanese breeders and the industry over there. The farm that stands him must be beyond devastated...to Tachyon and our other Japanese posters, I'm terribly sorry...I know you must be devastated..I just gasped out loud several times hearing this news

Sadly, it has been reported that Shadow Warrior, an 11 yo son of A.P.Indy, had to be euthanized due to aggression issues at his home in Texas (LoneStar Outreach to Place Ex-Racers - LOPE). Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare facebook page has made available a podcast with Lynn Reardon of LOPE detailing the story of Shadow Warrior, who was abandoned at the track (Camarero) after Hurricane Maria, and if you have the time, I would highly recommend giving it a listen. A very unfortunate situation, but at the end of the day, the correct decision was made. Many may remember him from his racing days at Keeneland, Churchill and Gulfstream. Hats off to CTA and LOPE - all of the tremendous organizations that work so very hard to help these horses along. RIP Shadow Warrior.

From RacingPost:
https://www.racingpost.com/bloodstock/b ... -18/394698 :(
The sudden loss of arguably their two greatest stallions signals a change for Japanese breeding, moving from established stars to the next generation. I hope Deep Impact's and King Kamehameha's sons are as good as their sires.

France has also lost a stallion, the promising nine-year-old Pedro the Great, a handsome son of Henrythenavigator. :(

A rider was killed this weekend at the GMHA Festival of Eventing in Vermont. I'm from NH. As is my friend who was competing there and this occurred in her division. The rider was involved in a rotational fall with her horse a 12 year old ottb. The horse was uninjured...this was a very freak thing and according to my friend happened in warm up of all places..my friend is very upset understandably...as she said, all competitors accept death as a risk...nobody ever thinks it'll become a reality. The Vermont and new hampshire eventing communities are very small and also tight knit...believe me this is effecting us all

Tapitsgal,

So sorry to hear the horrible news. Even if you don't take life for granted something like this really pulls you up short. Peace to you and everyone affected.
